+Carpentry Apprentice

Position Summary:  We’ve designed the Carpentry Apprentice program with the intent of finding the right candidate with exceptional work ethic and the desire to pursue a career in finish carpentry and training this individual to become a master of carpentry.  This position requires having the enthusiasm to learn while working alongside our team of finish carpenters and corroborating with our entire design and construction team, trusted subcontractors, and Clients.  This candidate will be able to adhere to instructions from the finish carpenters, while working as an effective member of a construction team with a common goal.

Essential Responsibilities:  While the items listed below are intended to define the major aspects of the position, they are not intended to be a complete list of responsibilities.  An important factor in the success of the Carpentry Apprentice is the understanding that flexibility in helping others is essential for the overall benefit of the company.

Primary Functions:

  • Perform various finish carpentry tasks on our commercial construction projects which could include installing cabinets, trim, doors, countertops, sills, etc.
  • Occasional light framing and drywall work if needed
  • Small demolition work on occasion
  • Transportation of materials using company vehicles
  • General cleanup of jobsites

Position Qualifications:  Below is a list of the minimum knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to execute the key responsibilities of the Carpentry Apprentice:

  • Passion for carpentry.
  • Will be able to read and follow architectural drawings.
  • Able to drive company vehicles.
  • Carpentry experience in some capacity is preferred.
  • Ideal candidate will be available to work approximately 40 hours per week.  Overtime available as project schedules require.  Part-time availability will be considered for the right candidate, but the intent for this position is full-time work.
  • An individual who contributes beyond themselves and is motivated by their team’s success.

+Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager (“APM”) helps all members of the Project Management Team in a variety of ways so that projects run smoothly and efficiently.  The APM is the first step in the Project Manager career path at D2C.  By learning under the direction of the Project Management Team, the APM will have a working knowledge in all phases of the construction project from conception to completion and learn what it takes to be successful in the industry.  There are numerous pieces of information to organize and document within each project, and the APM will assist in gathering and filing various required items in accordance with our Company procedures.  Expectations and responsibilities will vary and change from project to project, but are summarized below:  

 Estimating

·         Send out bid/budget requests with input from PM.

·         Chase quotes once due, assure we receive all numbers or an answer to why a subcontractor did not quote.

·         Gather all the quotes when they come in for bid/budget requests. 

·         Proposal booklets as directed by PM.

·         Work on Scope of Work document with PM.   

Job Setup

·         Enter contacts in Directory/Outlook and adds to sub list in excel when needed.

·         Submittal requests/return to subs after approval, copy PM and Superintendent and print out for Superintendent if needed.

·         Review 2-week look aheads, as generated by Superintendent.

·         Request and collect shop drawings and submittals from Subs.

·         Review submittals with PM assistance.

Change Management

·         Create PCCO’s and Sub CO’s from PM’s direction.

·         Collect information and quotes for PCCO’s from subs.

·         Prepare draft PCCO’s for review by PM.   

·         APM updates PCCO log with new info and keeps current.

Miscellaneous

·         APM needs to be knowledgeable in Procore. 

·         Attend and take notes from kick off meetings, lessons learned and PreCon meetings.

·         Assist with punchlist for Architects, assign subs to each punchlist item, send out to subs when done, close out when completed.

·         Scan in plans if needed/copies for field and PM.

·         Scan in permits, permit sets, pick up permits on occasion.

·         Manage closeout process and work with PM to provide deliverable to Owner.

 

Position Qualifications:  Below is a list of the minimum knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to execute the key responsibilities of the Assistant Project Manager:

·         Design-build commercial construction experience preferred.

·         Must have the capability of reading existing construction documents.

·         Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to meet deadlines both collaboratively and independently. 

·         Ability to work well with others under deadline situations.

·         Someone who is constantly looking to better themselves and takes the initiative to learn, is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and enthusiastic.

·         An individual who contributes beyond themselves and is motivated by their team’s success.

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Procore, and Microsoft Project all preferred.

+Project Architect with 3+ years of Design-Build Commercial Construction Experience

Position Summary:  The ideal candidate will be a qualified architect who is able to construct clear documents using Revit.  This candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of all steps related to project completion and be able to communicate with necessary people to ensure timely execution.  This candidate should also be able to conduct quality assurance checks on a frequent basis in order to ensure compliance with design and construction documents.

This person will need to effectively organize, communicate, delegate, and follow through on all tasks involved in completing a comprehensive set of building design documents.  The Project Architect needs to work hand-in-hand with Project Managers, field Superintendents, Subcontractors and Clients to facilitate a complete turnkey building project on time and on budget.

  • Complete the initial zoning/code check
  • Attend meetings with Owners/Clients as necessary
  • Complete preliminary design sketches for preparation of budget numbers
  • Complete the construction document set
  • Set the schedule of drawings and associated hours for preliminary sketches
  • Initiate the internal drawing review check with architectural department
  • Secure consultant quotes (civil, soil borings, landscape, structural and interiors)
  • Review the municipal requirement for zoning approval
  • Attend all municipal meetings
  • Review project documents with a Project Manager for turnover to field Superintendent
  • Review project documents with a field Superintendent
  • Review and approve all shop drawings
  • Set up and initiate site visits with Superintendent and Owner
  • Maintain field report documents
  • Answer all questions that relate to drawing or design issues
  • Communicate with Superintendents, Project Managers and Owners to resolve issues as they occur
  • Maintain change of scope documents
  • Set up punch list and complete with Owner and Superintendent

Position Qualifications:  Below is a list of the minimum knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to execute the key responsibilities of the Project Architect:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture
  • 3+ years of experience in design-build construction and or architectural field
  • Strong organizational, creative and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Revit
  • Must be well versed in international series codes, Planning and Zoning Ordinances, and the submittal process for construction documents for approval
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel) in order to track projects accordingly
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to meet deadlines both collaboratively and independently
  • An individual who contributes beyond themselves and is motivated by their team’s success
  • Leadership skills which will motivate the team and impact the future success of the Architectural Department

+General Laborer

Position Summary:  We are always looking for the perfect candidate to teach the ropes of construction.  That often starts out as a position as one of our general laborers to learn all aspects of construction.  This position is your way to get a foot in the door, and the path you take next is up to you!  We will train the right candidate in carpentry, landscaping, property management, and more!  Qualified candidate will have the drive to succeed as a member of a team, as well as the internal motivation to push their own limits.  Working under the direction of a supervisor, this position would have guidelines on work to complete each day, but be required to manage time as efficiently as possible. 

We have a great crew that respects one another and motivates one another to perform at your own personal best.
